Former First Republic wealth manager Lewis Mai has joined Berkshire Bank’s wealth management team.
Before its failure, First Republic was one of the main providers of wealth management services to the Boston area’s wealthiest.
Mai is the latest former First Republic wealth management staffer to jump to another bank following JPMorgan Chase’s acquisition of First Republic this spring. Citizens Bank recently announced it had brought on about 50 wealth managers from First Republic’s ranks, along with related support staff.
Joining Mai on Berkshire’s wealth team were former J.P. Morgan Private Bank and Merrill Lynch wealth advisor John Muse, former Bank of America Private Bank philanthropic officer Rebecca Rubino and ex-Goldman Sachs Ayco vice president Andrew Prancl, Berkshire said in its announcement.
“Berkshire Bank Wealth Management delivers comprehensive investment and planning services to meet clients’ unique needs and objectives,” Kathryn Hersey, managing director and chief investment officer of Berkshire’s wealth management division, said in a statement. “Berkshire’s commitment to providing specialized and trusted advisement to our clients differentiates us in the marketplace. The hiring of these four individuals brings further value to our clients across critical areas such as succession planning, financial planning, trust & fiduciary services, and fixed income & market research. We welcome Lewis, John, Rebecca, and Andrew as highly skilled and experienced professionals to our team.”
