The latest addition to Hanover Crossing has opened: a large Showcase Cinemas movie theater whose operators are touting it as “the most technologically advanced cinema on the South Shore.” 

Guests watching films on any of the theater’s eight screens will be able to enjoy a concession stand that includes Starbucks coffee and espresso beverages, cocktails on tap and a selection of local craft beers. Burke’s Aleworks, located in Hanover, has created a custom beer that will be available on tap only at the theater. A lounge area outside the theaters also allows patrons to enjoy their drinks before going into a theater. 

The Showcase Cinemas outpost adds an entertainment venue to the enclosed-mall-turned-mixed-use-lifestyle-center that started life as the 48-year-old Hanover mall. After being permitted in 2019, construction began the following year on around 600,000 square feet of retail space, anchored by a Market Basket and a 300-unit apartment complex.
