Newburyport-based Institution for Savings, its 2 Depot Square Charitable Foundations and the bank’s Coins for a CAUSE program donated a combined total of more than $600,000 last year to more than 100 local nonprofit groups and organizations, according to President/CEO Mark F. Welch.

The Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation contributed a total of $338,000 to 43 organizations, including more than $25,000 to area food pantries in December to assist them during the busy holiday season.

Other significant donation recipients included Anna Jaques Hospital for its Fast-Track Emergency Center; the YWCA for its community pool, RESTORE World War Memorial Stadium and the Newburyport Education Foundation. Additionally, the foundation also presented for the first time two $15,000 scholarships to graduating seniors at Newburyport and Triton Regional High School.

The 2 Depot Square Charitable Foundation gave $191,000 to a total of 27 organizations, including the Ipswich Family YMCA, Ipswich 375th Anniversary Celebration, Ipswich Music, Arts and Drama Association (IMADA), and the Ipswich River Watershed.
