John Dulczweski, who has served as spokesman of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors for more than a decade, will take over as executive director of the Greater Boston Association of Realtors next month.

With 20 years of experience working for Realtor organizations, Dulczewski replaces Donna Snethen, who stepped down at the end of July after less than two years as GBAR’s director.

With more than 5,000 members, GBAR is the largest of the five divisions at the Greater Boston Real Estate Board.

“John brings a wealth of knowledge surrounding the Realtor organization. As communications director at MAR, he understands what Realtors need in their day-to-day operations from a trade association,” said Greg Vasil, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. “He understands what’s valuable to them in their professional development, and he really brings a network of contacts in the Realtor field in Massachusetts, New England and nationally.”

Dulczewski has spent the last 17 years at MAR and most recently has held the position of director of communications and professional development. Prior to joining MAR, Dulczewski was the public affairs manager for the New Hampshire Association of Realtors for three years.

Vasil said he is happy to have Dulczewski join the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, which is the largest local board in New England. “Having John [here] Â… brings us cachet in the Realtor world nationally,” he said.

In an interview last Friday, Vasil said Snethen, who has two decades of experience working for Realtor organizations, wanted to pursue other opportunities outside of the Realtor world.

During his years at MAR, Dulczewski has helped organize conferences, meetings and other events attended by hundreds of Realtors and has been a key contact for news reporters seeking information about real estate industry trends and housing market statistics.

“It’s just a tremendous opportunity,” Dulczewski said of his new job. “Having worked for the Realtor organization for 20 years – in the last several years doing a lot of the communication and professional development work – has really broadened my experience and knowledge. I have had the opportunity to be intimately involved in the inner workings of the organization and felt that this was the next step Â… I cannot think of a better organization to go to work for than the Greater Boston Real Estate Board.”

A 1986 graduate of Boston University’s College of Communication, Dulczewski said he wants to meet with GBAR members and gather their ideas and insight on how the association can enhance its programming and “reconnect with the members on a personal and more frequent basis.”

“What I’m hoping to do is be an active listener,” said Dulczewski.

Throughout his career, Dulczewski has won the respect of Realtors and real estate trade association leaders throughout the state.

“[GBREB is] so lucky to get him. He’s phenomenal. He has such a breadth of background in communication and all the industry issues,” said Anne Rendle, executive director of the Northeast Association of Realtors.

Rendle, who has known Dulczewski ever since he was hired by MAR and she was serving as GBREB’s public affairs director, said he brought “a whole new level of professionalism” to the association.

“Anyone who has ever worked with him respects him,” she said.
