The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate in Massachusetts rose last week, ending the week at 5.4 percent, the highest in the country, according to online mortgage tracker Zillow.

The rates stood at 5.29 percent for the week prior. The average rate nationwide is 5.25 percent.

Rates on 30-year fixed mortgages were lowest in the states of Georgia (5.11 percent) and Washington (5.15 percent). Illinois had the second highest rate, below Massachusetts, at 5.35 percent, Zillow said.
