MassHousing has approved $50,000 in funding for the renovation and preservation of affordable sober housing for women in Fall River.

The funding will be matched by an unnamed private foundation.

The MassHousing grant for Steppingstone, Inc. of Fall River, will come from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations, Inc. (CCRI), a nonprofit subsidiary corporation of MassHousing that creates and preserves affordable sober housing in Massachusetts for recovering substance abusers.

The funding is expected to be used to help upgrade an electrical system and replace flooring and a ramp for disabled residents and visitors.

"Not only will this CCRI grant help renovate and preserve 28 important units of affordable sober housing for women in Fall River, it will leverage a matching $50,000 grant from a private foundation,” said MassHousing Executive Director Thomas R. Gleason.
