Joseph T. Baptista Jr., president and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank, has been named the Prince Henry Society of Massachusetts Taunton Chapter’s "Person of the Year."
The Prince Henry Society was founded to preserve the contribution of the Portuguese heritage and to promote the cultural, economic, educational and social betterment of the community, according to a statement.
"[Baptista] has worked tirelessly for the betterment of our community, as well as the reservation of our local Portuguese heritage," said Joseph DeMello, chairman of the nominating committee. "His personal commitment and dedication is an inspiration and we cannot thank him enough for his contribution to our chapter."
"What an honor and privilege it is to receive this prestigious award," said Baptista. "I am fortunate to work with such an amazing group of dedicated business leaders at the society, all of whom contribute immensely to our cause. I look forward to the future and continuing the society’s tradition of improving the quality of life in our community."
