Biopharmaceutical company Merrimack Pharmaceuticals Inc. recently renewed and expanded its laboratory and office lease to 109,312 square feet at One Kendall Square, Building 700 in Cambridge. The long-term lease represents a 25,000-square-foot expansion for Merrimack.

The Colliers International team of Joe Flaherty, Jim Elcock, Tucker Hansen and Ben Coffin represented Merrimack in the transaction. Colliers will serve as the project manager for Merrimack’s leasehold improvements. J. Duncan Gratton of Cassidy Turley FHO represented the landlord, The Beal Cos., in lease negotiations.

"One Kendall Square has been a great place for us to grow over the last few years, and we are excited to make it our home for our next phase of growth," said William McClements, senior vice president of corporate operations at Merrimack. "It has been a true pleasure to work with the Colliers team. They provided a great perspective on the market and our options and were fierce advocates for our interests throughout the negotiation process."

The One Kendall Square campus consists of nine buildings totaling more than 670,000 square feet of laboratory, office and retail space. The site is a short walk to the MIT campus and the MBTA Red Line station at Kendall Square. On-site amenities include a 1,500-car parking garage, a variety of restaurants and shops, Bright Horizons childcare and the Kendall Square Cinema.
