Boston-based fund manager State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management arm of State Street Corp., recently appointed James Kase as executive vice president, head of global sales and marketing.

Serving as a member of SSgA’s executive management group, Kase will oversee all aspects of North American sales and global marketing functions, primarily responsible for anticipating and meeting the needs of clients in the institutional and intermediary marketplace.

Most recently, Kase served as executive vice president at ING Investment Management in New York. He also chaired ING’s Global Marketing and Distribution Committee, which is responsible for coordinating efforts across the globe with the regional heads in Europe and Asia.

Prior to ING, Kase was chief operating officer and head of the Institutional Business in the Americas at Merrill Lynch Investment Management.
