Some of the last remaining escape hatches from Greater Boston’s grossly overpriced housing market – Worcester and Providence – are starting to close. And unfortunately, local NIMBYs seem determined to make the problem worse.
An analysis of its own search data by the Zillow-owned rental listings platform HotPads has found that renters in Boston were the outside group most likely searching for rentals in Providence, where the median rent of HotPads-listed units is $630 less per month.
Speaking at a National Governors Association summit on transportation and infrastructure in Boston Tuesday, Gov. Charlie Baker and Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo said they’ve been working together to improve regional rail service linking their two capitals, which Raimondo said needs to be faster and more frequent.
