Windover Construction Inc. of Manchester-by-the-Sea will pursue a renewal of its permit to develop a 54-unit active adult community on what is currently the grounds of Carriage Pines Golf Course (formerly Rowley Country Club) in Rowley.
Windover is expected to appear before the Rowley Planning Board this spring. Construction of the development however, is not slated to begin for at least two years, during which time the golf course will remain open.
Windover won planning board approval for the housing project in June 2007. When constructed, the development is slated to take place on the front 30 acres of the parcel and will include a club house and amenities for homeowners. Windover agreed to put the balance of the land – approximately 60 acres – into a conservation restriction that will keep the land as open space.
"Our proposal to develop the property has not changed," said Lee Dellicker, president of Windover Construction. "Obviously the current state of the housing market necessitates a postponement of our development project, but ultimately we will move forward with construction."
