The Davis Cos. of Boston has sold a nearly 9-acre potential redevelopment site in Cambridge’s Alewife neighborhood to Invesco Real Estate.

Davis Cos. will continue to manage the property and oversee its future redevelopment. The Quad consists of four buildings totaling nearly 200,000 square feet at 75 Moulton St., 10 Wilson Ave., 40 Smith Place and 75 Smith Place.

The buildings are currently leased to Hyperion Catalysis International, Northrop Grumman Corp. and Mount Auburn Hospital. The nearly 4-acre parcel at 40 Smith Place currently occupied by a warehouse could be suitable for a multifamily development, according to marketing materials by HFF Boston. HFF Boston’s investment advisory team of Coleman Benedict, Christopher Phaneuf, Ben Sayles and Kerry Hawkins represented The Davis Cos. and procured the buyer. The sale price was $17.95 million.

Davis Cos. is betting on growth of the life science industry in West Cambridge with its 223,000-square-foot speculative Alewife Research Center lab building, which is scheduled for completion this year at 35 Cambridgepark Drive.
