What: 66 Galen St.
Where: Watertown
Owner: Boston Development Group
Boston Development Group is seeking approval for a life science campus after acquiring a series of parcels along Galen Street previously occupied by the Colonial GMC Buick dealership, a service station and oil change facility.
Combined with its own property at 51 Water St., the 5-acre site would be developed with nearly 450,000 square feet of office and lab space built in two phases.
Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, the first phase includes 200,000 square feet of LEED Gold certifiable office and lab surrounded by open and green space.
The plans are designed to conform with city planning initiatives in Watertown’s South Square/Galen Street corridor for a mix of uses including office, R&D, lab space and transit-oriented development. The project is subject to approval by the Watertown planning board and zoning board of appeals.
They Said It:
“This prominent site featuring a riverfront location, unrivaled Massachusetts Turnpike proximity and access will include a beautifully designed and sustainable structure immediately abutting the Watertown MBTA bus hub and will serve to help transform the character of this strategically important gateway location.”
