101 South St. is the first phase of the 1.8-million-square-foot Boynton Yards mixed-use life sciences development spanning seven acres in Somerville.
Designed by architects Spagnolo Gisness & Associates and Hashim Sarkis Studios and built by Shawmut Design and Construction, the building includes 35,000-square-foot column-free floor plates. Cambridge-based Flagship Pioneering leased 280,000 square feet on eight floors to accommodate the growth of Tessera Therapeutics, Laronde, Cellarity and Generate Biomedicines.
The nine-story, 289,000-square-foot building includes a ground floor conference center, arts and creative space and four levels of below-grade parking. Retail tenants Firefly and Portico Brewery will open this summer.
