In an effort to expand its national presence and work in the government sector, Suffolk Construction Co. has acquired Ashburn, Va.-based The Dietze Construction Group.

Suffolk’s acquisition of Dietze is intended to strengthen the company’s presence in the mid-Atlantic region and expand its ability to service clients in sectors such as government, healthcare, higher education, science/technology and commercial. With this acquisition, Suffolk will also leverage Dietze’s experience managing construction of secure government facilities, which is one of the nation’s high-growth sectors, according to a statement.

John Fish"In this economic environment, it is critical that we continue to seek opportunities to expand our business, diversify our work and exceed client expectations," said John Fish, Suffolk Construction’s CEO. "By combining our existing local resources and complementary strengths, we will be able to provide impeccable service to our clients, expand our presence in a regional market that is showing tremendous signs of growth, and diversify our business across high-growth sectors."

"Suffolk shares similar core values and principles with the Dietze team and we are pleased to be working with a company with such an excellent reputation who has continued to grow and expand its presence because of its commitment to client service, quality workmanship and innovative construction management approaches," said Ralph Dietze, president/CEO of The Dietze Construction Group. "Our partnership with Suffolk will provide us the resources, investments and proven processes to expand our offerings to our existing clients, strategically create opportunities to work in new market segments, and uncover more opportunities to work with new clients."

In September, Suffolk acquired another building giant, William A. Berry & Son. That merger allowed the company to expand its forces to more than 1,200 employees and $2 billion in projected revenues.
