Richard L. Barnett has joined Colliers International as a senior vice president in the development and consulting services group, the company announced Monday. Barnett, who has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare and life sciences industries, will lead Colliers’ practice in those areas.

Barnett has technical expertise in construction management including design/build process, architectural millwork design and fabrication. He is founder and chairman of the Healthcare Associated Infections Organization (HAIO), which seeks to minimize and eradicate the spread of healthcare-associated infections through the use of architecture, design and construction, including their impact on operations and maintenance.

"Real estate, as it relates to the healthcare and life sciences industries and related activities in the clinical, educational and research sectors, calls for the guidance of an experienced specialist," said Daniel R. Quinn, executive vice president and head of the development and consulting services group. "We are thrilled to have someone with Richard’s background to help us better serve our clients in these sectors that are so critical not only to our local markets but to all of New England."

Prior to joining Colliers International, Barnett was director of healthcare and life science projects at Richard White Sons Inc. In his role, he led quality assurance and quality control oversight. In the years prior, Barnett was founder and president of a construction company that specialized in projects for hospitals, laboratories, ambulatory surgery centers and retail stores.
