Former Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities Chairman Robert C. Yardley Jr. has joined Marlborough-based energy advisory firm Concentric Energy Advisors Inc. as senior vice president and a member of company’s the board of directors.

Yardley has been an advisor to private and public organizations in the energy industry on regulatory, public policy and strategic issues for more than 25 years, including a two year stint as chairman of the Mass. Department of Public Utilities. He has been active in public policy matters as a speaker, facilitator and expert witness, and co-founded Reed Consulting Group, according to a statement. He also served as executive managing director of Navigant Consulting Inc.’s energy practice.

"Bob’s diverse background in both the electricity and natural gas industries will enhance Concentric’s management consulting capabilities and help our clients in the areas of regulation, operations and strategy," Concentric Chairman and CEO John J. Reed said in a statement.
