RollingGreenBoston-based Beacon Communities has acquired the 204-unit Rolling Green Apartments in Andover for $30.25 million.

The complex, containing units from 759 to 1,158 square feet, was developed in the early 1970s as affordable housing with state financing. Last spring, Amherst town meeting approved $1.25 million to acquire the 41 affordable housing units using a loan from the Community Preservation Act, preserving the mixed-income element of the complex. The affordable housing restrictions had expired in 2012 when the original state financing matured.

CBRE/NE’s Simon Butler and Biria St. John represented the seller, Equity Residential, and procured the buyer.
