Callahan Construction Manager, Commerce Bank and Naveo Credit Union are among the organizations featured in this week’s roundup.

 

Callahan Construction Managers

Bridgewater-based Callahan Construction Managers recently partnered with South Shore Habitat for Humanity and local volunteers as part of Habitat for Humanity’s 10th annual National Women Build Week. Habitat’s National Women Build Week invites women to help make a difference and devote at least one day to help build affordable housing in their local communities. The event is meant to shine a light on the homeownership challenges that many women face. More than 17,000 women volunteered at construction sites across the country this year.

 

Charles River Bank

As it has done every year for more than two decades, Medway-based Charles River Bank helped sponsor the town of Bellingham’s Fourth of July celebration, this year with a donation of $1,000.

 

Commerce Bank

A team representing Commerce Bank took part in the 2017 Central MA Heart Walk at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester to support the American Heart Association’s clinical, education and research programs in the Central Massachusetts area. The team raised a total of $5,329, including a $2,500 donation from Commerce Bank.

 

KeyBank 

A local branch of Cleveland, Ohio-based KeyBank donated $2,500 to the Ludlow Community Center/Randall Boys & Girls Club. Through its charitable foundation, KeyBank provided the grant in support of the center’s youth programs.

 

Middlesex Savings Bank

The charitable foundation of Natick-based Middlesex Savings Bank announced the recipients of its first round of 2017 grant awards. A total of $330,079 was awarded to 22 nonprofit organizations in Eastern and Central Massachusetts. Five organizations are first-time grant recipients: Boston Area Gleaners, Circle of Hope, Daniel J. McCarthy Memorial Fund, Science from Scientists and SPARK Kindness.

The bank also announced the winner of the 11th annual A. James Lavoie Scholarship award. Madison Perkins will receive $5,000. The bank also distributed 32 $1,000 scholarships to area high school seniors.

 

Mechanics Cooperative Bank

The Taunton YMCA was the recipient of contributions raised by Mechanics Cooperative Bank employees as part of their Annual Capital Campaign. A total of $1,400 was donated to the organization.

 

MutualOne Bank

The charitable foundation of Framingham-based MutualOne Bank granted $5,000 to the Bacon Free Library in Natick to help refresh the library’s collection of current and classic books on CD.

 

Naveo Credit Union

Naveo Credit Union member Allison Sciarratta was the grand prize winner of the annual Cooperative Credit Union Association’s Seventh- and Eighth-Grade Student Essay Contest.

 

North Brookfield Savings Bank

Nathan Hampp, spotted in the community by a representative of North Brookfield Savings Bank wearing the bank’s hat, won a $100 gift certificate. Hampp is one of the youngest Hat Contest winners, at just 3 ½ years old.
