As it relocates from Beacon Hill to Dorchester’s Lower Mills, a Boston real estate agency is tapping into the curiosity about NFT investments to promote its new location and works by Boston and New York artists.

Jorge Sariego, founder and CEO of Boston One Realty Group, said the NFT gallery at the agency’s new 2273 Dorchester Ave. offices is helping spread the word of its arrival.

“Since the office opened, we’ve had tons of walk-ins because of the artwork, because this is different,” Sariego said.

The agency hosted a launch party on April 7 which doubled as a crypto networking event. The party included appearances from NFT creators Shantel Vigliotta of Boston and Joel Bermano of New York, who are among five artists whose works are featured at the agency. Two artworks sold for over $400, Sariego said.

NFTs – short for nonfungible tokens – consist of a unique digital file that can be assigned to an original piece of art, including videos, photos and audio files. The potential for NFTs to be traded for profit has led to the growth of a speculative marketplace, in which buyers can buy and sell NFTs through online platforms.

After starting his career in his family’s residential construction and renovation business, Sariego made the transition into real estate brokerage at Moor Realty Group in Randolph before founding his own agency, Boston One Realty Group, in 2018. The Dorchester native was familiar with the Lower Mills property and approached the owner last year about renovating it for a new office. The agency currently has five agents and plans to expand to 10 this year, Sariego said.

“I’m not a 100 percent expert and nobody really is in the NFT world,” Sariego said. “It’s just like the stock market and the regular real estate market.”
