Two more Democrats have been tapped by Governor-elect Charlie Baker to fill key housing and economic development posts in his administration.
Chrystal Kornegay, the CEO of the Roxbury-based non-profit Urban Edge, will lead the Department of Housing and Community Development, according to a Baker adviser. Kornegay, who has been co-chairing Baker’s advisory committee on community issues, will join Gloucester Mayor Carolyn Kirk, also a Democrat, who has been chosen by Baker and Housing and Economic Development Secretary-designate Jay Ash to serve as deputy secretary. Kirk is currently serving in her fourth term as mayor of the North Shore port city of Gloucester, and plans to resign to join the administration on Jan. 8.
Kornegay will succeed Patrick’s undersecretary for housing and community development Aaron Gornstein.
