David A. Laperle, of Boston, pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to a 2009 robbery of the Cambridge Trust Co.

Laperle, 55, faces up to 20 years imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release, a $250,000 fine and restitution to the Cambridge Trust Co. in the amount of $14,775, according to the Massachusetts Department of Justice.

On Jan. 9, 2009, Laperle entered the Cambridge Trust Co. at 1720 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and a black mask. He leapt over the teller’s station and began ransacking cash drawers, according to a statement. The stolen cash contained marked money and a dye pack.

Laperle was soon after caught using red-stained money to pay for a motel room. The FBI and the Milford Police Department later arrested Laperle when he was exiting the motel. His minivan contained a large amount of red-stained currency along with a number of red-stained clothing and boots.
