The Boston Planning & Development Agency’s board approved several new projects at its regular meeting last week, including ones that would add 142 new housing units to the city and a dormitory tower for Simmons University.

The Simmons project, once completed, will allow the school to consolidate its student housing and classroom space on a single campus and sell off the 5.88-acre residential campus located a block away on Brookline Avenue. The school has indicated the site will be surplus to its needs once the dormitory tower is complete, but it maintained throughout the tower permitting process that there are no plans or agreements in place for the property’s future.
