Financial services firm Boston Private Financial Holdings Inc. recently appointed George L. Alexakos as executive vice president and chief risk officer for the company.
Alexakos previously served as senior vice president, chief compliance and risk management officer. In his new role, he will report to the chief executive officer and the risk management committee of the board and be responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing the enterprise-wide risk management program, according to a statement from Boston Private Financial Holdings.
"George possesses extensive financial services industry risk management experience, and during his time at BPFH he has proven himself to be an invaluable advisor and resource," said Timothy Vaill, chairman and CEO of the firm. "We have established the goal of executing a risk management program that provides the company with a competitive advantage and George has both the experience and the intellect to lead that endeavor."
Alexakos’ experience includes serving as a risk management consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and holding the position of director of risk review at BankBoston, along with several risk related positions at Citibank and other financial institutions. He also served as an examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for seven years.
