Boston officials cleared the way for development projects topping $75 million Thursday including the conversion of the former Holy Trinity Germany Church in South End into a 33-unit residential complex.
Developer David Goldman will convert the church and rectory at 136 Shawmut Ave. into a 57,904-square-foot, eight-story residential building while preserving and updating the structure. Feingold Alexander & Assoc. designed the $47-million project. The Boston Redevelopment Authority’s approval calls for the developer to contribute $500,000 to Inquilinos Boricuas en Accion (IBA), a nonprofit community-building organization in the South End.
Boston Preparatory Charter Public School, which has leased space in Hyde Park since 2004, got approval to build a 48,800-square-foot, three-story building at 875 River St. The $24-million project designed by Studio G Architects will include dedicated science labs, a library, cafeteria and technology integration. The project is expected to be completed by March 2017.
Brookview Housing Development Corp. was granted approval to build a $4.3-million, 12-unit affordable housing complex at 35 Hansborough St. in Dorchester. The 22,316-square-foot building will include 4,000 square feet of community programming space and will be reserved by households earning up to 30 percent of the area’s median income.
In the Marine Industrial Park, Watertown-based plumbing company J.C. Cannistraro was given a six-month tentative designation to redevelop parcel N at 25 Fid Kennedy Ave., which contains a vacant two-story structure. The redevelopment would include construction of a new storage, assembly and warehouse facility. The company also would reuse the existing building, bringing more than 100 jobs to the industrial park. The project is subject to a final lease agreement with the BRA to be negotiated after the company performs due diligence at the site.
