The office development at 5 Wall St. in Burlington has achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the fifth building in the state to achieve the distinction, and the fourth along the Route 128 corridor, but the first such development in Burlington.
The property at 5 Wall St. was developed by The Gutierrez Co., which has its corporate headquarters at One Wall St. in Burlington. One Communications is the lead tenant at the 182,000-square-foot, six-story property. More than 100,000 square feet remains available for lease, according to a statement.
In its operation, 5 Wall St. will use 40 percent less water annually compared to a typical office building, equivalent to an Olympic-sized swimming pool, The Gutierrez Co. said in a statement. The building also boasts high-quality indoor air, maximized daylight views and high-efficiency lighting, heating and cooling systems.
Gutierrez obtained the gold certification for both its core and shell after a design, construction and testing review under the LEED Green Building Rating System.
"The LEED Gold certification confirms the company’s approach to sustainable building and allows employees and visitors at 5 Wall Street to take pride and comfort knowing that they are working in a healthier building while also reducing their impact on the environment," said Scott Weiss, managing director of commercial development for The Gutierrez Co.
