Kendall Square-based Broad Institute is expanding to a new suburban campus within Burlington’s Network Drive that will house genetic sequencing research space.
The nonprofit leased 145,705 square feet at 25-27 Network Drive within the Northwest Park, where owners Nordblom Co. and Starwood Capital Group are tapping into the suburban life science demand.
The build-to-suit development is beginning immediately on a vacant parcel within the 158-acre campus off Middlesex Turnpike.
Broad Institute, a Harvard and MIT nonprofit founded in 2004, said it will use the Network Drive location to expand its large-scale genetic sequencing operations based in Cambridge. Vericel Corp. leased 125,000 square feet at the property in February.
Completion of the facility is scheduled for 2024. Newmark represented ownership in the Broad Institute transaction, with CBRE representing the tenant.
