Special bins in the lobbies of all Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank branches have been designated as collection areas for food and toy donations to be distributed through six local food pantries.

Participating food pantries include Family Pantry, Falmouth Service Center, Lower Cape Outreach Council, Sandwich Food Pantry, Yarmouth Food Pantry and the Nantucket Interfaith Council, according to a statement.

"As economic pressures continue to bear down on many of our neighbors, the need for assistance has grown considerably over the past few years," Cape Cod Five President and CEO Dorothy A. Savarese said in a statement. "And since so many young children are affected at a time when toys top their wish list, we’re pleased to be able to make it easier for local residents to join in the spirit of giving and help others enjoy the holiday season."

The bank said it will be collecting toys throughout the holiday season, and, as in past years, will continue collecting food on a year-round basis.
