A Los Angeles concert promoter has leased 41,000 square feet of cultural space at Boston Landing’s planned indoor track and field complex.

AEG Live operates 28 concert venues in the U.S., as a subsidiary of Anschutz Entertainment Group, which promotes the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and other events.

NB Development, New Balance’s real estate subsidiary, is developing the track and field complex to complement the office, lab and multifamily buildings at the 1.9-million-square-foot Boston Landing, which also includes the new training facilities for the Boston Celtics and Bruins.

The 171,655-square-foot track and field complex was designed as a non-revenue generating portion of the mixed-use development, including an 18,516-square-foot New Balance research lab for athletic shoes and equipment. The building also is approved for 41,000 square feet of cultural uses, which include performance spaces.

Erin Harvey, a senior leasing and marketing manager for NB Development, said during a 2018 tour of Boston Landing that the facility will include a hydraulic track, space for multiple basketball and volleyball courts and seating capacity for 5,000 people.

The complex also will include 22,725 square feet of retail space.

AEG and NB Development did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Concert promoters are partnering with local developers on major expansions in Boston. The Boston Red Sox unveiled plans in December for a 5,000-seat theater at the corner of Lansdowne and Ipswich streets, while The Hub on Causeway will include a 32,000-square-foot concert hall managed by Live Nation and Big Night Entertainment Group.
