Needham Bank, Santander Bank and RCN Boston are among the organizations giving back in this week’s roundup.
Berkshire Bank
Berkshire Bank recently joined CRA Partners in funding the Senior Crimestoppers program, which provides safe living environments for low- to moderate-income seniors.
The bank has also sponsored the Hancock Shaker Village’s “Be Our Guest” program for the fourth consecutive year. The program offers children and their families an immersive and authentic education about Shaker customs and history.
East Cambridge Savings Bank
East Cambridge Savings Bank, along with Quicksilva Real Estate Law, is running a toy drive for Boston Children’s Hospital. Toy donations will be collected at East Cambridge Banking Centers through the end of August.
Needham Bank
Needham Bank was the lead sponsor in the construction of the “Gus” Toomey Playground for the Dedham Housing Authority. The playground will give families living in the area a place to gather, socialize and play.
Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank
The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation made a $5,000 donation to support the Essex County Greenbelt Association. The donation supports the organization’s mission to protect and conserve local farmland, wildlife and landscape.
People’s United Bank
The People’s United Community Foundation recently awarded more than $150,000 to nonprofit organizations throughout Massachusetts. In this cycle of grants, 29 organizations received funding in support of various causes, such as affordable housing initiatives and educational programs.
Santander Bank
Santander Bank has awarded Urban Edge $35,000 for its Homeownership and Financial Education program, which offers first-time homebuyer education, foreclosure prevention counseling and student loan counseling.
Shawmut Design and Construction
Shawmut Design and Construction recently participated in the 2016 Pan-Mass Challenge, marking its ninth year of participation in the two-day bike race. The team raised over $137,556 for research conducted by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Dr. Christopher Sweeney.
RCN Boston
RCN Boston’s ice cream truck recently made a visit to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute to deliver frozen treats to approximately 1,000 caregivers, parents, volunteers and patients to bring them cheer in the summer months.
