Construction of a 150-room Marriott Residence Inn is set to begin at the former Charles River Saab dealership site at 564 Arsenal St. in Watertown.

Boston-based Boylston Properties is developing the $39.5-million extended-stay hotel designed by Stantec, which will include a pool, fitness center, meeting space, dining room, lounge and guest marketplace. A groundbreaking ceremony was scheduled for Thursday morning at the site.

Boylston Properties will own the hotel in a joint venture with Stonebridge Cos. of Denver, Colo., which will be the hotel operator. Completion is scheduled for September 2016.

Boylston Properties has been active in the Watertown development scene, acquiring a 160,000-square-foot warehouse at 480 Arsenal St. in October for conversion into office space.

The company partnered with Athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush on purchase of the 225,000-square-foor Arsenal Mall in 2013 with plans to update and redevelop the property.
