As a youngster, Edward Lomasney watched his parents leave for their jobs in the business community, impeccably dressed in their suits, an image that impressed him. Today, son imitates father and mother as he heads out the door each morning on his way to Eastern Bank and the business community.
Born in Lynn, Lomasney was raised in Peabody, where he still resides with his wife, Kelly, and three daughters. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Salem State University. After graduation, he drifted into the financial world, working in consumer lending management at HSBC and lending at Bank of America & Mortgage Access before joining Eastern Bank in 2010. He became assistant vice president of business banking and was promoted to vice president at the end of 2012.
Lomasney’s responsibilities at Eastern Bank involve accomplishments as well as challenges. “It’s exciting to work with a variety of business owners and commercial investors and see them grow with success,” he said. “But it can be challenging, and it takes the right skill with proper time management to service customers, grow new businesses, maintain business partners and service the community. As the economy has improved, it has gotten extremely busy.”
Several awards testify to Lomasney’s top-notch job performance. In 2012, he received Eastern Bank’s Top Loan Producer Award, as well as Eastern’s Retail Outstanding Business Partner Award. He gained membership to the prestigious Pinnacle Club that year and in 2013 received Eastern Bank’s Above & Beyond Award and Eastern Bank’s Customer Service Internal Corporate Value Award.
Lomasney is also immersed in community activities. He served as honorary chair for the Relay for Life of Peabody in 2012 and co-honorary chair in 2013, currently serves as first vice president of the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce; vice president for Haven from Hunger; co-chair of the Peabody Mayor’s Economic Advisory Board; board member of the Family Business Association of Massachusetts and board member of the Peabody Retirement Board. In addition to coaching girls’ youth lacrosse and youth soccer, Lomasney is second in charge of the Girls’ Lacrosse League in Peabody.
When not volunteering or tending to bank responsibilities, Lomasney enjoys fitness and hitting the court, where he engages in competitive basketball games twice a week. He enjoys family trips and family time. “Some Sundays my daughters can play as many as three lacrosse and three soccer games, and I’m always there,” he said.
In the long term, Lomasney hopes to continue his professional success at Eastern Bank, growing in the institution as a leader in both business and community. “Personally, I want to continue to be a role model for my three daughters and work hard toward their future success,” he said.
Shifting from law enforcement to banking proved to be the right course for Lomasney. “I’ve found my comfort zone with lending. It’s about building strong lasting relationships with businesses; investors; business partners; and community leaders. The key is taking a consultative approach to finding the right solution in all aspects of the job.”
