Recent funding awards from state and local sources will contribute to development of Templeton’s first multi-family housing development in a quarter-century.
MPZ Development and Capstone Communities are converting the former Baldwinville School into 54 apartments, 49 of which will be reserved for households earning 30 to 60 percent of area median income.
MassDevelopment recently awarded $750,000 to the project from the state’s Underutilized Properties Program, which supports projects that create housing and foster economic development. The town of Templeton has awarded $1.9 million for the project in Community Preservation Act funds.
Designed by ICON Architecture, the Baldwinville School Apartments are scheduled for completion in 2025.
They Said It:
“This partnership between Templeton and MPZ Development with Capstone Communities is already generating excitement and hope in our small community. It has already proven to be successful in revitalization of our municipal structures for reuse; this affordable housing project strengthens our pursuit of wisely using taxpayer resources.”
