Dutch boutique hotel chain citizenM has a one-size-fits-all approach to its global portfolio of 13 hotels, including the Gensler-designed citizenM at Boston’s North Station which opens Aug. 5.
All of the property’s 272 rooms, designed by Dutch architecture firm concrete, measure a snug 170 square feet and are equipped with king-sized beds, wall-mounted TV’s and iPads that control room temperature, window shade settings and preset lighting modes from “romance” to “party.” The decorating scheme features designer furniture by Swiss manufacturer Vitra and contemporary art.
Guests can check in at airport-style kiosks on the fourth floor or through the hotel’s proprietary mobile app. The fourth floor communal “living room” contains all the hotel’s amenities including a terrace overlooking Causeway Street, a 24-hour “canteenM” self-serve food and drink area, six meeting rooms and work areas which are available to the general public with a daily rate of $15. Room rates will start at $129.
They Said It:
“The citizenM brand is built around global mobile citizens, so for our third hotel in the U.S., we looked to Boston, a hub for our clientele. We were thrilled to find the location above North Station. For all of our properties, location is key: either a city center, a very accessible neighborhood, airport or train station.”
