A Boston developer has reportedly agreed to buy 6.5 acres of surface parking along Boston’s Fort Point Channel, one of the last large development sites in the west side of the Seaport District.

Related Beal was the top bidder for the parking lots next to the future General Electric headquarters, the Boston Business Journal reported. Procter & Gamble’s Gillette division hired JLL Boston in October to market the properties, which are part of its 40-acre South Boston campus.

The Gillette parking lots could have development potential as additional high-end office space, after surrounding properties in the Seaport District attracted large leases by Amazon, PTC, Cengage, Alexion Pharmaceuticals and Boston Consulting Group in recent years. Skanska is building a speculative 225,000-square-foot office building at 2 Drydock Ave. to meet short-term demand.

Related Beal is pursuing redevelopment of former Boston University properties in Kenmore Square as office and lab space and completing an expansion of former Fidelity Investments offices on the edge of Post Office Square into office, hotel and residential space.
