South Station will continue closing off access to the Red Line stairs and escalator overnight through Jan. 12 while the station undergoes construction.

The Red Line stairs and escalator will close at approximately 9 p.m. and reopen at 5 a.m. every day from now until Jan. 12. The station will have engineering and additional security on staff to assist as needed, and travelers will be rerouted during this timeframe.

South Station began closing the stairs and escalator on Dec. 19, and had originally planned to resume normal access on Jan. 5.
