The Davis Cos. has notified city officials of its plans for its latest East Boston multifamily development: a 451-apartment and 20-townhome development astride the East Boston Greenway near Logan Airport.
The company filed a letter of intent to develop a 137,562-square-foot cluster of properties on Orleans and Bremen streets owned by the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center on Tuesday. The nonprofit currently uses the land for surface parking.
The Davis Cos. letter outlines a 487,275-square-foot project that would include about 4,400 square feet of ground-floor retail space aimed at “independent entrepreneurs.” The company said the project’s rental and ownership components would comply with the city’s inclusionary development policy. Building heights will range from 3 to 7 stories, stepped back away from the greenway.
Community benefits will include a rebuilding of the Gove Street and Bremen Street intersection to include a traffic-calming “tabletop” and a reconstruction of the 16,500-square-foot Gove Street Plaza, expanded with the addition of 2,560 square feet of the project’s land area.
The letter states the project will need zoning relief for its proposed heights and floor area ratios.
